The Cranhill Development Trust is a Community Project and is a Member of the Development Trust Association Scotland. As a community project, it aims to promote the local community but that is not its only aim; the services it offers are very extensive and there are many activities going on in the centre.
There is an IT drop in centre where people, who have no access to computers or internet, can come and make use of it. There is also the “Work Club” which offer support for unemployed people. We help them with their CVs, with job searches, improve their skills and help them achieve their potential. The centre also gives these people the chance to volunteer in order to improve their skills and CV. The Cranhill Development Trust also work closely with the Job Centre and other development organisations.
There are also flexible learning IT classes which are well-attended. ESOL classes are also taking place and most of the students are refugees and asylum seekers.
Apart from all that, there are Fitness classes, Youth club, Dance class, Art group and there is the Community Café “Giggles and Nibbles” whose staff are volunteers from the community. There is also a CAB on-site.
Vincentian Volunteers can also expect to work on the front desk dealing with incoming service users and generally doing a bit of everything in order to make the centre run smoothly.
