LIVERPOOL WORLD CENTRE
Liverpool World Centre is an educational charity focused on spreading the use of global learning in schools across Merseyside. Global learning is a belief that alongside our local/ national identities and obligations, we are part of a global community and as such have global responsibilities. The charity is a development education centre, part of a consortium of organisations across England promoting global learning in schools and the education sector.
Being placed at Liverpool World Centre involves allows the volunteer to get involved in all aspects of work, as the team consists of only three permanent members of staff. As a volunteer you will go into schools and support the delivery of workshops around themes such as global learning, modern slavery, environmentalism, etc. Liverpool World Centre offer the EDiT programme, which targets pupils in schools that are at risk of expulsion. The volunteer works with pupils, using a combination of drama activities and discussions, to encourage more positive behaviour in school. In partnership with Liverpool Hope University, the charity hosts an education conference which the Vincentian Volunteer helps to plan and organise. There is also a variety of organisational and planning work. This a placement suitable for anyone interested in the power of education to alleviate inequality and make a positive difference in our communities and the planet.
